Philosophy

As a sports medicine orthopedist, Dr. Fay's specialty is treating athletic injuries. Not all "athletes" are injured on the playing field. Any person with an active or physical lifestyle such as a construction worker, soccer moms, weekend warriors is an athlete in his/her own way. Her goal is to apply the treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, that are used to get athletes back on the field quickly to all people with active lifestyles. Dr. Fay trys to understand the patient's unique concerns and goals. He/she should have a good understanding of what his/her problem is and what treatments are available, appropriate and best suited to their specific situation. People are more involved in their recovery if they understand the problem and how it will be treated. Regaining an active lifestyle is a combined effort on the part of the surgeon and the patient. Dr. Fay's comment when patients thank her for helping them get better is "I couldn't have done it without you."
